| Game Summary | The Rangers edged the Tigers in this taut,well-played season opener. DerrickM (3 strikeouts in 3 innings) and MichaelM (1 hitter,4 K's) combined for the shutout. DevinB and JacobC led the Rangers errorless defense with their stellar play. Tigers' hurler StuartJ retired the first 9 Rangers in order, but in the 4th MichaelM 's single and speedy baserunning manufactured the Rangers' first run.In the 5th PaulS's booming triple drove in the second run. WesG also contributed a base hit and excellent defense. Ranger catcher MichaelM gunned down 2 would-be base stealers and AlexR ended the game with a dramatic catch in deep right with 2 runners on to seal the shutout. |
