you may be asking where all the caps went for this summary? we are keeping things very quiet - apparently Krusty is finally back in town, but fast asleep...

the pels jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first; sarge's rbi triple to left center was the big clout. then he took the mound in the bottom of the inning and tiptoed thru the heart of the padres' lineup, stranding 2.

in the 2nd, bass pulled a double down the line and later scored on tigger's single to right; the padres answered immediately. the third and fourth innings saw the defenses shine. the pels eliminated 4 baserunners over that span including kirby catching two runners stealing, and a jump move pick off called by squito, ever alert on the bench! the padres participated in the defensive uprising, too, with jerry unleashing the cannon from cf and throwing out 2 pels at the plate.

in the 5th the pels extended their lead to 8-2; rhino started the rally with an infield single and bass, tigger and kirby all pushed runners across the plate.

sarge ran out of gas in the bottom half, and rhino came on to close things down efficiently.
