Team Summaries | Angels Notes: In a heart-stopping finish the Angels won the game with two out in the bottom of the 7th on a hit by Tim J. The Angels had been down to their last strike with no one on base, losing 6-5, when they got key base hits from Jeff D. and Eddie H. Tim J. then followed with his game winning hit driving both runners in for a 7-6 victory! The Angels had trailed 5-2 going to the bottom of the 6th, but a run scoring single by Eddie H. and a two-run double by Mike M. tied the score briefly before the Padres got a run in the top of the 7th for the go-ahead run. Earlier, in the bottom of the 4th, the Angels manufactured a run after Alex W. was hit by a pitch, with a single by Sam Z., a sacrifice bunt by Luke B., and another run scoring single by Eddie H. The Angels then came within a few feet of a grand slam by Jack H. on a towering drive to deep left, but it was caught just short of the fence. Eddie H. pitched strong 4 innings, and gave up only five hits while striking out six Padres. The Padres were led by Eric R. who had 4 hits including two doubles. Padres Notes: |
